Design Justice + Critical Race theory in Portland

Portland Community College is dedicated to bringing critical race theory into many facets of the institution. That is now extending to the development process. Colloqate is joint ventured with BORA Architects out of Portland to combine the concepts of critical race theory and design justice as a means to develop a 40,000 sf Opportunity center on 42nd and Killingsworth Ave. In November of 2019, We joined PCC, Living Cully and BORA for a community event summarizing the organizing the LIving Cully worked on during the Fall. In addition, we began to introduce the entire design team to the concepts of design justice and how best to implement the work throughout the scope of work.
